Staying positive about going back to work
You had a wonderful vacation, got some much-needed rest and took a break from the daily grind. But now it’s time to get back to work, and to your daily routine (which is also wonderful in its own way!). Here are some tips on how to make the back-to-work process a positive one.
1. Don’t take on too many responsibilities
At work and at home, don’t attempt to get everything done at once. No matter how hard we try, none of us are as productive as usual when we first go back to work. It’s best to ease back into your tasks and responsibilities gradually.
2. Get to bed early
Maintaining healthy sleep habits from the beginning will go a long way towards helping you fight those post-vacation blues. Don’t stay up too late watching TV and try to get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep.
3. Eat a healthy diet
A healthy diet will give you the energy you need to tackle your day. Try to eat a balanced diet featuring a wide variety of foods throughout the day and don’t leave any essential nutrients out.
4. Get some exercise
Not only will it help you lose those pesky pounds you put on over vacation, exercising will also provide you with a break from your day and help you get back to a routine. And don’t forget, when we exercise, our bodies release endorphins, which boost our well-being and help us have a more positive outlook.
5. Stay positive
Try not to give in to negative thoughts that bring you down or make you feel discouraged. Spend some time each day doing things you love: dedicating part of your day to your hobbies will help you combat stress and anxiety.
